How to invite students to a section in a course

Some instructors teach multiple sections of the same course, with different students enrolled in each section. Lingco gives instructors the ability to invite students to a specific section in a course. This skips the step of assigning students to sections after inviting them to the course the usual way.

First, you'll need to make sure you've enabled and created sections in your course. For information on how to do this, refer to this help article.

Next, navigate to your course homepage and click on Roster on the right side bar. Then, click on the Add/Invite to Course button.

A window will pop up with a few different options to invite your students to the course. Under the Student Course Code, you'll see Show Section Codes. Click on this.

You'll see specific codes underneath the names of each section of your course. Copy one of the section course codes and give it to the students that you'd like to be in that section of your course. Then copy the next code, invite those students, and so on.

NOTE: Giving your students the Student Course Code at the top of the window, instead of a specific section course code, will just enroll them in your course. You'll still need to assign them to a section once they're enrolled.

Once you invite students to sections in your course, you'll have the option to set start and end dates for assignments by section.
