How to sync assignments, grades, and course rosters with Schoology using LTI 1.3

Accessing Lingco and Connecting your Course

Click on the Lingco Classroom tab on the left side navigation in your Schoology course to access Lingco.

If you don't have an account yet, you'll be taken to the account registration page to finish creating your account.

Once you finish creating your account, you'll be brought to a page that looks like the image below. If you already have a Lingco account, clicking the Lingco Classroom tab in Schoology will launch you directly to this page.

If you don’t have a course created, click the Create Course link towards the bottom of the page. Once created, you’ll be brought back to this page. Select the course you just created, then click Link.

If you already have course(s) created, select the Lingco course you’d like to link to, then click Link.

Syncing Rosters (if not using OneRoster integration)

Before transferring data, you'll need to sync your Schoology and Lingco rosters. To do this, click on Roster on the right sidebar, click +Add/Invite to Course, and then click the Sync with Schoology button.

NOTE: If your school/district is also using our ClassLink/OneRoster integration, you should NOT sync the roster. OneRoster will handle any and all roster updates when we do the nightly sync. Ask your Coordinator or LMS Admin if you're not sure.

Sharing Assignments

To share a graded assignment (vocabulary set or activity) with Schoology, navigate to the assignment and under the grading panel, click the Share as Graded Assignment button. This will create an equivalent assignment on Schoology with the same due date and number of points. You'll be able to find the assignment under the 'materials' tab on the left sidebar in your Schoology course.

Syncing Grades

Once an assignment has been shared, the Sync Grades with Schoology button can be clicked to send the grades to Schoology. You can click this button as many times as needed (e.g., if a student submitted an assignment late, you can click this again to update their grade in the Schoology gradebook).

Common Errors

I see the assignment in Schoology, but I don't see my students' grades after syncing

Verify that your roster is checked. When you sync the roster, we look for a match for each student and store their Schoology user ID in Lingco. If this step doesn't happen, we won't be able to assign a grade for a student and they will be skipped.
