Getting Started

Using this integration, your students will be able to skip the normal registration and login process by simply clicking a link in your Blackboard course. They will be automatically logged in through a linked account. If they do not already have a Lingco account, one will be created for them using their student information from Blackboard. You will only need to perform this process once per course.

Note: Blackboard has several versions. This guide is for Blackboard Ultra. To see the classic version, click here.

Creating One-Click Login Link

To add Lingco in the updated Blackboard view, navigate to your course, click Create and select Teaching tools with LTI connection.

Use the following settings:

WEB LINK INFORMATION

LTI LINK DETAILS

Name: Lingco Login

Visible to Students: Enabled

Key: Found in Course Details on Lingco (See Below)

Security Token: Found in Course Details on Lingco (See Below)

Open in new window: Checked

Note: If you see an error stating that the link has not been approved by the administrators, you will need to add Lingco to the list of external learning tools that your university. For instructions, click here.

Finding Your LMS Consumer Key and Secret on Lingco

To get the Consumer Key and Shared Secret, open Lingco Classroom in a different browser tab, navigate to the Course Dashboard in your course and click Course Details.

Copy the Consumer key and Shared secret into Key and Security Token fields on Blackboard.

You do not need to select "Create gradebook entry for this item," as students will not be using or submitting assignments through this link, only logging in.

At the bottom of the form, check yes for Open in New Window.

Click save, and you’re done! Your students can now click the Login Login link to sign on automatically to Lingco.

Note: This process will need to be repeated for each course since each course has a unique consumer key and shared secret.

Registering Lingco as an LTI tool Provider in Blackboard Ultra (Admins)

  1. Go to the System Admin tab in the top-right corner of the Blackboard ribbon.

  2. Click the LTI Tool Providers link on the right-hand side of the list screen.

  3. Click the Register Provider Domain tab at the top of the ribbon.

  4. Add the Provider Domain (NOTE: depending on your Blackboard configuration, you may need to drop the https:// from this URL):

  5. Select the Provider Domain Status - Approved. Approved is the default and is required to use the tool. Choosing Excluded will prevent users from adding Tool Links to that Provider.

  6. Select Set separately for each link next to Default Configuration.

  7. Select Send user data only over SSL to ensure that user data is sent over secure connections only.

  8. Check all of the check boxes for User Fields to Send (Role in Course, Name, and Email Address). Lingco needs all three in order to identify the user and link to their existing account.

None of the other settings are applicable to Lingco, so click submit and test if instructors can now access the approved tool.
